Welcome to Elixir Editorial

Welcome! I’m Mary Kehoe, owner of Elixir Editorial.

Along with editing, I’ve been known to spin a yarn or two about the literary arts. Join me in the laboratory on Wednesdays for a deep dive on the principles of writing. We’ll focus on:

The Ingredients: The structure and organization of writing. Think of this as the framework of a house. Too weak and your house might blow away in a breeze, but fear not—we’ll build our foundations to withstand the ravages of time.

Crafting Language: Here’s where we dive into the style and voice of writing. How does one evoke emotion in a manuscript? How do we ensure our words match our meaning? Above all, how do we communicate clearly with our audience?

Laws of Writing: Much as we’d love to just go off and have Lewis Carroll-esque adventures with words, knowing the rules first will aid our efforts. We’ll tackle grammar, punctuation, usage—all the fun elements and oddities of the English language.

The Write Company: Last, but not least, we’ll take time to celebrate the writing process and the support that is essential on our journey to change the world. Look here for resources, community news and musings on our relationship to writing.

Whatever your topic, field or passion, writing plays an essential part. Let’s learn together.
